CO2 Fractional Laser Course Overview
This advanced training programme is designed to equip participants with a comprehensive understanding and in depth knowledge of CO2 laser technology. The course covers essential knowledge in laser safety, operational protocols, and treatment techniques.
By the end of the course, learners will be confident in safely and effectively operating a CO2 laser for a range of clinical and aesthetic applications, ensuring both precision and patient safety.


Pre-requisites
Students should be advanced laser practitioners holding an updated accredited Core of Knowledge Laser Safety certificate, in line with guidance set by the MHRA and supported by the BMLA. In addition, Level 5 or 6, or higher laser and light-based treatment qualification.
The duration of this course is 16 hours – 2 x 8 hour days practical training, answers to questions to be submitted and 2 case studies to be submitted with 6 weeks. This course carries 16 points towards your CPD.

Course Outline
Module 1: Introduction to CO2 Laser Technology and Applications
An overview of CO2 lasers, history and science behind this treatment, their mechanisms, and their applications within clinical and aesthetic practices and client selection. Advantages of the CO2 laser and comparisons.
Module 2: Laser Safety Essentials
In-depth training on safety standards, risk assessments, PPE, and treatment room compliance in line with UK regulations. Equipment maintenance and trouble shooting.
Module 3: Documentation, Record Keeping and Operating the CO2 Laser – Hands-on guidance in the operation and calibration of CO2 laser devices, treatment planning, and device settings.
Module 4: Treatment Protocols, Preparation and Laser Application Modes, – Step-by-step protocols for various indications including skin resurfacing, scar revision, lesion removal, vaginal rejuvenation and other treatments.
Module 5: Contraindications & Adverse Events and Post Treatment Care – Best practices for aftercare, patient instructions, recovery timelines, contraindications and managing side effects.
Module 6: Certification – On successful completion of the theoretical and practical components, participants will be awarded certification verifying their competence in delivering CO2 laser treatments safely and effectively

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the principles and mechanisms of CO2 laser technology.
  • Apply appropriate safety protocols to ensure the protection of both the operator and the client during laser procedures.
  • Confidently operate CO2 laser equipment through supervised, hands-on practical experience across a range of treatment applications.
  • Identify and resolve common technical issues by developing effective troubleshooting skills.

Assessment Format
Multiple Choice Questions and written for each module – 100% pass is required.
Practical Assessments – Assessing competency in delivering CO2 laser treatments, consultation for treatment and treatment planning and aftercare. Knowledge of settings, parameters and application and recovery timelines.
