What this course is
This is advanced laser training in fractional CO₂ treatment, for qualified practitioners who already work with lasers. It is taught on the MED-870+ FOCXEL fractional CO₂ system, which we supply and for which we are the UK Responsible Person registered with the MHRA. The theory is written for first-time CO₂ users, and teaching follows the operator and clinical user manual for the system, so the settings and safety framework are those you will work from in clinic.
It covers skin rejuvenation, fine lines and texture, acne marks, scars, stretch marks, pigmentation, and benign lesion removal with the UltraPulse surgical head. It covers facial and body skin treatments and lesion work. It does not cover periorbital or intimate and gynaecological applications. Results vary between individuals.

Before and on your practical day
- Complete all of the online theory before your practical day.
- Wear your salon clothes or smart casual, because the training is clinical.
- Your practical date is arranged with you after you enrol.
- Lunch is provided on your practical day.
Entry requirements, insurance and scope of practice
- An up-to-date accredited Core of Knowledge laser safety certificate
- A regulated laser and light qualification at Level 4 as a minimum (Level 5 or above preferred)
- Insurance that covers fractional CO₂ treatment, before you treat clients. Check with your insurer before you book
The device is a Class 4 medical laser and may be operated only by trained, qualified practitioners working within the scope of their training, insurance and local authority licensing. We accept Recognition of Prior Learning for the laser and light qualification, but not in place of a current Core of Knowledge certificate or for the practical element. Completing the course does not on its own make you competent to treat every client.
The practical element
The practical day is at 26 The Avenue, Southampton SO17 1XL, from 09:30 to 17:30, with a maximum of two students. You see a trainer demonstration of machine set-up, the thermal card test and patch test. You then treat three models, each patch tested and treated on the same day: fractional skin rejuvenation, benign lesion removal with the UltraPulse head, and fractional treatment of scarring or skin texture. Each model signs a disclaimer and Skintastic provides all three.
Please bring your workbook, your Core of Knowledge certificate, your laser and light qualification certificate and your completed registration form. Wear comfortable clothing, with no loose jewellery, and remove rings and watches for practical work.
Assessment and your certificate
You complete the knowledge review (short answers and multiple choice) in your workbook during your online study. Your trainer marks it on the practical day. The multiple-choice pass mark is 100%: any wrong answer is talked through with you and you answer it again. On the day each of your three treatments is a separate supervised practical assessment, recorded on its own checklist and signed by your trainer.
Your certificate is issued on the practical day once your written work and all three practical assessments are passed. It is CPD accredited, not a regulated qualification.
