What this course is (and who it is for)
The Radio Frequency, Laser Liposuction and Ultrasound Cavitation CPD Course is a complete non-invasive body contouring course covering four technologies that are often found together on one machine: radio frequency (RF), laser lipolysis, ultrasound cavitation and vacuum. These treatments are designed to support body contouring and skin firmness and may help reduce the appearance of localised fat and cellulite. Results vary, they are not weight loss treatments, and none replaces surgery. You learn what the evidence does and does not show, so you can explain it honestly to clients.
“Laser liposuction” here means non-invasive laser lipolysis: low-level red diode light through intact skin, with no surgery, needle or incision. The course is for practitioners who want to add body contouring to their clinic. It is CPD, not a regulated qualification, and it carries no qualification level.
What you get for your price
- A printed hardback manual and workbook, posted to you before the course. You keep it.
- Online lessons with quizzes and a downloadable slide deck for every lesson, narrated overview videos on selected lessons, and step-by-step tutorial videos for radio frequency, laser lipolysis and cavitation.
- Student guides for the machines taught, and a downloadable client forms pack. The manual also holds client forms and aftercare sheets for your own clinic.
- Two days of supervised practical at our Southampton academy, with a complete treatment on each of three models.
- Written feedback on your workbook and your practical checklists from your trainer.
- An accredited CPD certificate for 40 credits, and a CPD reflective record for your portfolio.
- Help from the Skintastic team if a question comes up once you are treating your own clients.
How the course works, step by step
- Buy the course. It is added to your academy account after purchase, and your workbook is posted to you.
- Study the theory at home (27 hours). Work through the four technology sections and the legislation appendix online and in your workbook, answering the written questions as you go.
- Arrange your practical days with us. Bring your workbook, your certificates and photographic ID on day 1.
- Attend two practical days at our Southampton academy, 09:30 to 17:00. That is 13 hours of guided, supervised practical.
- Be observed on a complete treatment on each of three models, with the full paperwork for each.
- Receive your certificate once your written work is marked and all three observations and model record sets are complete.
In total that is 40 hours: 27 hours of theory and 13 hours of practical. Lunch and breaks are not counted.

| 3. Ultrasound cavitation | How ultrasound creates microbubbles in the fluid around fat cells; lipolysis; frequency settings; the glide technique; adverse reactions and aftercare |
| 4. Vacuum | Suction level and stroke direction, filter care, and how vacuum combines with RF and cavitation |

Before and on your practical day
- Complete all of the online theory before your practical day.
- Wear your salon clothes or smart casual, because the training is clinical.
- Your practical date is arranged with you after you enrol.
- Lunch is provided on your practical day.
Entry requirements, insurance and scope of practice
- A regulated Level 3 qualification in anatomy and physiology, or equivalent, for example the Focus Awards Level 3 Award in Understanding Human Anatomy and Physiology (RQF). If you hold a different qualification, send it to us before you buy and we will map it (Recognition of Prior Learning).
- A recognised Core of Knowledge certificate in laser physics and safety, because laser lipolysis uses a laser output. If you do not hold one, you can take it with us first.
- Insurance that names each treatment you plan to offer (RF, laser lipolysis, cavitation and vacuum), before you treat clients.
- Copies of your certificates and photographic ID, to bring to practical day 1.
Most insurers want to see an existing beauty or aesthetics qualification alongside a CPD certificate, and we cannot promise any insurer will cover you. Check your policy first, or message us and we will help you check. Before you treat paying clients you should also check with your local authority whether a licence or registration is required, and keep your machine serviced.
The practical element
The practical is face to face at Skintastic, 26 The Avenue, Southampton SO17 1XL, over two days from 09:30 to 17:00. Day 1 starts with room set-up, machine safety checks, hands-on time with the machines and a trainer demonstration of a consultation, measurements, photographs and a full treatment. You then carry out your first supervised treatment. Day 2 covers your second and third models, with your trainer stepping back further each time.
You complete a full consultation, medical history, written consent, measurements, treatment and aftercare for each model. Across the three models you must use radio frequency, laser lipolysis, ultrasound cavitation and vacuum at least once each, and your trainer steers the bookings so that happens. You are trained on the same equipment we supply.
Assessment and your certificate
- Written: the questions at the end of each section and the legislation appendix (59 in total), completed at home and marked by your trainer on the practical days. They are marked for substance. Any answer that does not yet meet the standard is talked through and answered again.
- Practical: three supervised observations, one per model, each recorded on a practical competency checklist covering general items and each technology you use. Radio frequency, laser lipolysis, cavitation and vacuum must each be marked competent on at least one model.
If anything is a “not yet”, you are reassessed on those items only. Written answers can be reassessed remotely, but a practical item must be reassessed in person on a live model.
Your certificate is issued only when your written work, all three observations and your three model record sets are complete. It shows 40 hours (27 theory, 13 supervised practical) and 40 CPD credits.
