What this course is
This is our broadest light-based course. It covers hair removal across diode laser, IPL, E-Light and Super Hair Removal (SHR), then goes on to what else those machines can do, which is where much of the extra income in a clinic comes from.
You learn the legislation and laser safety framework, how light-based treatments work, diode laser in depth, the hair growth cycle, and how to plan treatment times, intervals and a full course rather than selling single sessions. The skin side covers Fitzpatrick typing, patch testing, consultation, contraindications and consent, then skin rejuvenation, acne, pigmentation and vascular therapy.
It is for practitioners who want to offer light and laser hair removal and add skin treatments with the same systems, and who meet the entry requirements below.

Entry requirements, insurance and scope of practice
The entry requirements are a Laser and IPL Core of Knowledge certificate and a regulated Level 3 qualification in Anatomy and Physiology (or equivalent). Both are essential, and if you are missing either, you can take them with us first. You must also be 18 or over. We accept Recognition of Prior Learning against the Anatomy and Physiology requirement; it is never accepted in place of the Core of Knowledge certificate or the practical.
This course teaches the treatments. It does not teach your own machine: your supplier or manufacturer does that, and you need that device training before you treat clients.
Insurance. Most insurers want to see an existing beauty or aesthetics qualification alongside a CPD certificate, and your insurance must name each treatment and each device you use. We cannot promise that any insurer will cover you, so check with yours before you buy. If you are not sure, message us on WhatsApp and we will check it with you.
The practical element
The practical is one training day, 09:30 to 17:30, at our academy, 26 The Avenue, Southampton SO17 1XL, where you are trained on IPL, SHR, diode laser and E-Light. The morning is teaching; the afternoon is practical.
You work on live volunteer models under supervision: three hair removal treatments and three skin rejuvenation treatments, each with its own set of client forms. Each model is patch tested and treated on the same day. This is a training arrangement only; in your own clinic you wait 48 to 72 hours for skin types I to III, or 10 to 14 days for type IV and above, before the first treatment.
Tell us before you book if you need reasonable adjustments.
Assessment and your certificate
Assessment has three parts. Parts A and B are the written assessment, completed at home in your workbook and marked by your trainer on the day. Part C is the practical: your trainer observes three hair removal and three skin rejuvenation treatments and records them in your workbook.
If a part is referred, it is a ‘not yet’. Your trainer records what is needed and you can be reassessed on that part alone.
Your accredited CPD certificate is issued once Parts A to C are passed and all six model sets are complete. This is a CPD course, not a regulated qualification, and it carries no qualification level.
